All this, however, did not stop the organizers from throwing a warm ceremony filled with nostalgia, reunions of ensemble casts from shows that have already become classics (The Sopranos, Grey’s Anatomy, Cheers and Ally McBeal) and emotional speeches. The only thing it lacked was at least some surprises. For example, recognition of one of the most outstanding series of recent years – AMC’s Better Call Saul, which ended in 2022, which over its six seasons was nominated for an Emmy 53 times and received zero awards. However, the last opportunity to correct this injustice was missed.

As for the winners, the choice of TV academics did not surprise anyone. Descendants was named best drama series for the third—and final time since it also ended—time. In addition, the story of the dysfunctional and constantly scheming family of a dying media mogul won Emmys for best writing and directing in its category, and Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen won best actor, actress and supporting actor, respectively. In total, taking into account the “technical” awards, which the TV Academy traditionally handed out a week before the main ones, “Bear” received ten Emmys, becoming the triumph of the season.

The current ceremony was generally the most advanced in terms of racial and other diversity in the entire history of the award.
