A rare masterpiece of the artist will be sold under the hammer
Mudslide by Nikolai Feshin is considered a masterpiece of Russian impressionism of the early 20th century. It will become the main top lot of one of the Moscow auctions. The picture was estimated at 2.9 million rubles.
Nikolai Feshin is one of the most expensive Russian artists on the art market today. The price of his works reached $10 million. The master donated most of the artist’s legacy of the pre-revolutionary period to museums before emigrating to the United States in 1923.
In the early 1920s, the author presented the sketch “Thicks and Roads” to a former student, the famous artist Pavel Radimov. He helped the teacher with the departure from Russia. In addition, Feshin was not allowed to take his paintings to the USA. The work was kept in the family of Radimov and his descendants for about a century – it came to the auction for the first time.
