Timur Vakhrameev, the justice of the peace of the judicial district of the Tagansky district of Moscow, fined the Telegram messenger for 50 thousand rubles. for violation of the procedure for collecting, storing, using or distributing personal data. The reason was the appeal of an official of Rosakkreditatsiya to Roskomnadzor, RIA Novosti reports.

An employee of the Federal Accreditation Service asked to remove the entry from the Telegram channel. Among other things, it contained information that she had previously been a citizen of Ukraine. Roskomnadzor demanded to remove the post, but the messenger did not comply with the requirement. In this regard, a protocol was drawn up. Telegram was fined for the first time under Part 5 of Art. 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

The Russian law “On Personal Data” obliges Russian and foreign companies to store personal information of Russians only in Russia. In case of violations, the service may be blocked, and the company that committed the violation may be fined.
