TEFI award ceremony will not take place in 2022

In 2022, the TEFI National Television Award ceremony will not take place. Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, announced this.
“TEFI will not take place this year. “TEFI-Region” (all-Russian television competition) will take place, will be in St. Petersburg at the end of November. It will be held in three stages,” said Mr. Shvydkoi, TASS quoted him as saying. “And the big TEFI will be next year,” the special representative of the president noted.
In May Mikhail Shvydkoi declaredthat the TEFI award ceremony will be postponed until the completion of the “acute part” of the military operation in Ukraine, because at the moment its holding is “inappropriate.”
TEFI is an award for achievements in the field of television arts. The award was established by the Russian Television Academy Foundation on December 21, 1994. The winners are awarded with a bronze statuette “Orpheus” by Ernst Neizvestny.
The last time the TEFI award was held was in 2019. In October 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to May 2021, after which it was again postponed indefinitely.
In December 2021, it was reported that the award was scheduled for May-June 2022.
