Tchaikovsky competition summed up: Koreans and Russians are in the lead

The International Tchaikovsky Competition has been held since 1958, and during this time it has acquired the status of a national treasure of the national musical culture. Once every four years, musicians show their talents at a review, having the opportunity to receive not only a cash prize, but also recognition from masters and the general public.

Many world-famous performers began their careers in “big music” just after winning the Tchaikovsky competition: among them are Mikhail Pletnev, Boris Berezovsky, Denis Matsuev, Vladimir Spivakov. It is clear that the current review was influenced by the geopolitical situation, so among the participants, mostly musicians come from friendly countries. 236 musicians participated in the competition. Most awards went to the Russians, Koreans and Chinese.

The award ceremony takes place in a solemn atmosphere – in the Pashkov House. The Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova took part in the award ceremony. thanked all the participants of the competition and the members of the jury:

Together with us, this competition was watched by 52 million people from 102 countries. And this is our biggest victory.

In the evening of the same day, the winners will have to prove their skills in the Zaryadye Concert Hall. The international jury, which includes experts from Russia, South Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Germany and Belgium, summed up the results in five nominations. So, the first prize among brass players goes to trumpeter Semyon Salomatnikov (Russia), the silver medal goes to Zhicheng Jin (horn, China). With the “bronze” was not decided. There are eight awards in total.

Prizes were awarded to Frenchman Charles Redelle (horn), five Russians (in addition to Salomatnikov, these are Vilnur Samigullin, Stepan Bachevich, Alexei Ivanov and Vsevolod Trukhachev) and one trumpeter from Kazakhstan – Zhasulan Abdykalykov.

The gold medal in the specialty “woodwind instruments” also went to Russian flutist Sofya Wieland. As well as “silver”: the second place is shared by Anna Komarova, flute (Russia) and Fedor Osver, oboe (Russia). “Bronze” figured out for three – Lev Zhuravsky, clarinet (Russia), Augusto Velio Palumbo, bassoon (Italy), Ye Song Kim, flute (South Korea). Prizes were also awarded to two performers from China – Yuening Ning (oboe) and Zonglin Xie (clarinet).

Singers from Russia and South Korea are leading in the vocal nomination. Among men, the gold medal went to Hong Song Chi (South Korea), among women – Zinaida Tsarenko (Russia).

In the specialty “cello” the 1st prize was awarded to Lee Yong Eun (South Korea),

The second and third positions were taken by musicians from Russia and South Korea – our Maria Zaitseva, Ivan Sendetsky, Vasily Stepanov and Hyuk Pak San and Yol Lee Don from South Korea.

But traditionally the most intense competition of talents unfolded in the nominations “piano” and “violin”, which have existed since the day the competition was founded (other disciplines entered it later). The current laureates are: “gold” – Ke Hee Kim (South Korea), “silver” – Ravil Islyamov (Russia), “bronze” – Chaowen Lo (China), Kogan Daniil (Russia), Tarosyan Elena (Russia).

The 4th prize goes to the Chinese Ying Jiang.

In the “keyboard nomination” The first prize for Russia is Sergey Davydchenko. The second is for Briton George Harliono, Russian Valentin Malinin and Angel Stanislav Wong, originally from Los Angeles. The bronze medal is shared by the Russians Ilya Papoyan and Stanislav Korchagin, and the 4th place is shared by the Chinese Xuanyi Mao and the native of South Korea Yo Soa.
