Since the beginning of April 2021, taxi fares have been steadily increasing. Then the average cost of a trip per 1 km was 25.69 rubles. The strongest increase was recorded in the first half of 2023 – in June, taxi services rose by 4.03% compared to January.
According to the Check Index portal, in the first half of the year, the average check for a taxi ride increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 435 rubles. In Moscow, the average check for a trip is higher – 771 rubles. (+12% compared to the first half of 2022).
Among the reasons why taxi services have grown, the press secretary of the Maxim service, Pavel Stennikov, called the increase in prices for cars, spare parts and maintenance. According to Rosstat, since February 2022, the average price of an imported passenger car has increased by 57%, to 2.168 million rubles, and a Russian one by 25%, to 0.97 million rubles.
At the same time, starting from September, the increase in the cost of taxi services can be up to 30%, Citymobil warns. This is due to the new legislation on taxis, according to which, from September 1, taxi drivers will be required to issue OSAGO at the tariff for carriers. According to Stennikov, the cost of this policy is 10-12 times higher than the amount of standard auto insurance with the same amount of insurance coverage.
At the end of December 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law regulating the operation of taxis. The document contains norms relating to the requirements for a taxi driver, as well as to the external and internal appearance of the car. In addition, according to the adopted law, the carrier is obliged to store data on orders for six months and provide them at the request of law enforcement agencies.
