The Red Wings airline may change its base airport from Domodedovo to Vnukovo due to unresolved “procedural issues” informs TASS, citing a source in the industry.

“Since its foundation in 1999, the carrier has been based at Domodedovo airport, but the issue of moving to Vnukovo is currently being considered due to the unresolved number of procedural issues,” he said.

According to him, the change of the base airport may occur already from the summer schedule, and the carrier will keep flights from the Zhukovsky airport near Moscow. The Red Wings declined to comment.

As wrote Earlier, Vedomosti, Red Wings entered into a preliminary agreement on the supply of four Tu-204/214 aircraft after their restoration of airworthiness. The delivery of aircraft is planned according to the following schedule: two aircraft in the spring of 2023, two in the spring of 2024.

The core of the Red Wings fleet is Sukhoi SuperJet aircraft. The company currently operates 17 such aircraft. There are also three Boeing 777-200s in the Red Wings fleet and, from 2020, one Tu-214 aircraft in a VIP configuration. In 2021, the airline served 2.99 million passengers, including 2.06 million on domestic flights.
