“Tabakerka” has become nuclear and is celebrating its birthday

Vladimir Mashkov will continue the tradition established by his teacher and theater founder Oleg Tabakov

On the first day of spring, one of the most popular theaters in Moscow, Tabakerka, celebrates its birthday. 37 years old, by the way. The date is not round and to some extent fatal: remember: “…Pushkin guessed a duel for this number and Mayakovsky lay down with his temple on the barrel.” However, this does not negate either the spring or the joy of meetings at the theater on Sukharevskaya, which 37 years ago began in the alleys of Chistye Prudy, in a cramped basement on Chaplygina Street.

Celebrations will begin at one o’clock in the afternoon. Artistic director Vladimir Mashkov will continue the tradition established by his teacher and theater founder Oleg Tabakov – he will reward employees who honestly, with full dedication, work to develop Tabakov’s business. And in this matter, Oleg Pavlovich was picky, attentive, and the work of a person, even in the smallest position, did not go without his attention. A zealous owner, he valued the contribution to the common cause not only of creative workers: awards and memorable signs from his hands were received by business executives, assemblers, buffet workers and cleaners. The main criterion for him always remained devotion to the common cause.

Vladimir Mashkov accelerated the teacher’s work by adding the word “atom” to his dictionary, which seems to be becoming the key word. So the high-profile premiere of this season is called “Atom of the Sun.” The photo zone, which was opened in the Mirror Foyer of the theater in honor of the birthday, could not do without this word in its name – “Atom of the Sun – the birthday of the Theater.” There is an exhibition “Behind the Scenes” here, which tells how vivid images of artists are created in dressing rooms and workshops. During the ceremonial part, young artists will show their atomic numbers.

Let us recall that the Oleg Tabakov Theater, which was then simply called the Studio, opened on March 1, 1987. His first studio members and the artists of other generations who followed him became famous or received star status – Vladimir Mashkov, Evgeny Mironov, Sergey Bezrukov, Andrey Smolyakov, Alexey Serebryakov, Vitaly Egorov, Sergey Belyaev, Evdokia Germanova, Anya Chipovskaya, Yana Sexte, Olga Krasko, Alexander Fisenko, Denis Nikiforov, Evgeny Miller and Vladislav Miller (not relatives). Some of them have already left “Tabakerka” and set off on a free voyage, but they have one common starting point – Chistye Prudy, a basement on the old Chaplygin Street, and it will forever remain in their hearts.
