Switzerland to join ninth EU sanctions package and oil price ceiling

The Swiss authorities have decided to join the new EU sanctions against Russia. In addition, Switzerland has joined the price ceiling for Russian oil. The restrictions will take effect on December 16 at 20:00 Moscow time.
“The EU has extended to trade and brokerage bans regarding the transport of these goods sold above the marginal price. On December 16, 2022, the Federal Council decided to fully adopt these changes,” reads the site Federal Council of Switzerland.
In addition, the Swiss authorities also imposed sanctions against two Iranian citizens and two Iranian companies for the supply of drones to Russia. The European Union adopted such sanctions on November 14.
As of 25 November Switzerland froze Russian assets worth 7.5 billion francs (approximately $7.94 billion). At the end of November, the Swiss Federal Council imposed a complete arms embargo on Russia.
