“Swatch in honor of the Year of the Dragon is available to everyone” – Kommersant FM

Kommersant FM columnist Anna Minakova talks about which watch models are worth paying attention to on the Asian market.
The Chinese market is large and important, and this fully applies to watches. So the large number and variety of watches traditionally produced for the Chinese New Year is not surprising. Moreover, the diaspora celebrates the holiday far beyond China.
The main disadvantage of such watches is that they mostly look extremely conservative, as if for older clients. But usually with age one gains respect and experience in collecting, and therefore such clients could have purchased a dragon for their collection 12 years ago. So, personally, I am much more interested in those watches that are designed for the young and daring. Let’s look at two such models, in very high and, on the contrary, affordable price segments.
Although the Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon from Hublot is based on the traditional art of paper cutting, the watch has an ultra-modern look. Titanium, vibrant colors, three-dimensionality, rubber strap with marquetry pattern. The watch was created in collaboration with Chinese-born fashion designer Feng Chen Wang. This is not the first collaboration between Feng and a big brand. She has previously collaborated with brands such as Nike or Crocs.
But if Hublot is intended for the wealthy few, then the new Swatch in honor of the Year of the Dragon is available to everyone until the series ends. From $110 to $220, anyone can buy one of five bright and fashionable watches with a dragon on the dial and strap. The most expensive model of the collection with a chronograph in red, blue and gold tones.
