The Swatch Group has filed a lawsuit against the government and the Malaysian Ministry of the Interior, demanding the return of the watch confiscated by the authorities in honor of the LGBT movement to the company, reports Malaysia Mail.
In May, Malaysian authorities raided Swatch stores and seized 172 of the company’s watches from the Pride collection. The Home Office documents regarding the seizure of the watch said the watch violated the Printing Presses and Publications Act of 1984 because it displayed or promoted “LGBT elements.”
The lawsuit, filed by the Swiss watchmaker on June 24, but which has not yet been reported, states that the value of the seized watch is about $ 14.2 thousand. Swatch is seeking a court order for the return of the watch, as well as payment of compensation for the delay in sales.
