The authorities of Abkhazia are planning to announce a competition in the coming months to select an investor for the reconstruction of the airport in the country’s capital, Sukhum. This was reported to Vedomosti by two sources in Russian airport holdings. According to them, the Airports of the Regions (90% of the former Renova top manager Vladimir Rezer) and the structures of Oleg Deripaska, the founder of the Aerodinamika airport holding, showed interest in participating in the project. Aerodinamika includes the airports of Krasnodar, Sochi and Anapa.
The State Investment Agency of Abkhazia told Vedomosti that they did not have information on the tender for Sukhum Airport, and recommended that they contact the Ministry of Economy of the republic. They did not answer Vedomosti’s questions there.
