The rector of the State Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) Grigory Zaslavsky spoke about internal changes in the theater and modern students on the air of MK during the Theater Wednesday with Marina Raikina.
“Every day I think, what is my mission and the mission of GITIS in this changed reality? And I came to the conclusion that my role is probably to save this school, – says the rector of the State Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) Grigory Zaslavsky. – And not just to keep, but to ensure that today we bring up actors who could be even more reactive than the previous ones. I believe that despite all the difficulties, the theaters will survive and GITIS will also survive.”
When asked if today’s students differ from students of previous years, Grigory Zaslavsky replied that today the guys have become more vulnerable and more confused because of the situation in the country: “Students and teachers understood that they should try to understand the changed reality, just like we are trying to understand the plays of Chekhov, Shakespeare. You need to understand that everything is inexhaustible and everything, at least, is not so simple. In conversation with students – they often ask me questions, I am pleased that they understand some things in the same way as I do.
