Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov said in an interview “RIA News”, that the New Fashion company, which manages the Maag brand, is negotiating with clothing factories about localizing the production of collections in the country. According to him, the company “in just a few weeks” opened 242 retail chains of the brands Maag, Dub, Ecru, Vilet on the site of the former brands of the Spanish company Inditex (Zara, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, etc.).
“All 242 stores of these brands are currently operating in Russia. The opening of new stores has increased the traffic of the shopping centers where they are located,” said Mr. Evtukhov.
JSC “New Fashion” was previously called “Zara CIS”. In March 2023, a subcommittee of the government commission for control of foreign investment in Russia approved the sale of 100% of the New Fashion company by the Spanish clothing retailer Inditex Group. In April, the Daher Group, which owns the Inditex business in Russia, announced its intention to open stores under its own brands – Zara began operating under the new name Maag, Bershka renamed Ecru, and Pull & Bear – DUB.
