Steel pipe production in Russia has grown sharply due to the oil and gas sector

Despite the sanctions and the difficult situation in the ferrous metallurgy, the production of steel pipes in Russia in January-July 2022 increased by 16.3% compared to the same period in 2021 to 7.3 million tons. This follows from the expanded data of the official statistics of Rosstat, with which Vedomosti got acquainted.
The main growth since the beginning of the year, according to Rosstat, fell on welded round pipes with an outer diameter of more than 406.4 mm (output increased by 56% to 2.4 million tons), welded pipes for oil and gas pipelines with a diameter of more than 406.4 mm (+55% to 1.4 mmt), casing and tubing for drilling oil or gas wells over 406.4 mm in diameter (+110% to 525,025 t) and similar pipes up to 406.4 mm in diameter ( +54% to 392,229 tons).
