Elena Drapeko, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in an interview with Paragraph commented on the words of singer Andrei Makarevich that his concerts were cancelled. She stated that in Russia there are no official bans on the performances of artists who criticized the special military operation in Ukraine.
“We don’t have any official bans on performing artists. Maybe the concert organizers are playing it safe and do not want to deal with artists who oppose the special operation,” Drapeko said.
She advised Makarevich, who had left Russia, not to return to the country, since troubles might await him here.
“In Russia, he may meet with disapproval from many patriots. It’s better for him to sit where he sits,” Drapeko said.
