American director Steven Spielberg announced the work on a mini-series about Napoleon Bonaparte written by Stanley Kubrick. It will consist of seven episodes and will be released on HBO.
“In collaboration with Christiane Kubrick and Jan Harlan (Mr. Kubrick’s widow and her brother.— “b”) we are creating a big project for HBO based on Stanley’s original script “Napoleon”,” Mr. Kubrick said at a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival.
As noted dead line, Stanley Kubrick did extensive research for the production of a film about Napoleon Bonaparte following the success of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). He refused to make the film, given the experience of Sergei Bondarchuk – the high costs of “War and Peace” and the low fees of “Waterloo”.
Mr Spielberg has been involved with Project Napoleon since at least 2013, according to Deadline. As the newspaper notes, he has now announced the organization of a “big production”.
