The start of ticket sales for the ballet “The Nutcracker” again caused a stir. You can purchase them from the morning of November 4th. Just the day before, hundreds of people lined up in front of the Bolshoi Theater box office to receive a special bracelet. It gives you the right to take a place in line to purchase a ticket for the production. Bracelets are issued in quantities of no more than 400 pieces per day, as specified on the Bolshoi Theater website.
Muscovite Svetlana told Kommersant FM on November 3 that she came to the ticket office early, but was unable to get into the queue to buy a ticket:
“We arrived at 15.45. There was already a line, but so far without barriers. Then a crowd of people lined up like a snake. There are about 200 people in front of us, and we are within the limit on bracelets. After some time, I began to notice that people began to crowd in front, since there were no fences. The security officers had already put up fences, and then, I saw, the security officer opened the gate, and some people were walking through there. After that, I realized that I would not receive a bracelet.
Of course, I won’t go there again, because it’s a circus. The temperature also rose at night. I was very cold. I’ll try, of course, to buy it on the official website, but I’m 99.9% sure that it will temporarily not work, because it has always been like that. I don’t know who managed to buy a ticket on the official website at least once; I haven’t seen such people.
In 2022, I missed the pre-sales, so this year I monitored in advance and really thought that if I did everything as the Bolshoi Theater indicated – I arrived, I stood, I stood, I would get a ticket.”
Queues of people wanting to see the ballet “The Nutkunzik” form at the box office every year. In 2022, Kommersant FM’s interlocutor Anna managed to purchase tickets to the performance, but to do this she had to endure the crush:
“I needed tickets for December 30th. This was already the second week of sales. Knowing in advance the date for issuing bracelets, a week before it I began to go to the Bolshoi Theater before and after work to catch the very volunteers who wrote people down in the notebook. We managed to sign up on the evening of November 29th. I was assigned number 76, and I left with peace of mind.
On November 3 at 17:00 I again arrived at the Bolshoi Theater. Why so early? Because I decided to make sure in advance that everything was okay. It turned out that there was another notebook from other volunteers, where people were also written down, and the owners of this notebook somehow either stole or took away the one in which they entered my data.
Some people copied up to the hundredth issue into the main notebook, while others forgot. I was already 169th on the new list, but I decided not to leave and stood there from 17:00 to 24 hours, periodically going to warm up in a cafe. At approximately 22:00, about 700 people had already gathered in front of the Bolshoi Theater, everyone was divided into hundreds, and the roll call began.
And at 00:00 the distribution of bracelets started, and here the most unpleasant thing began, because in the first hundred where I stood, there was a stampede due to the fact that those who had not signed up in advance tried to squeeze into the queue. But despite this, I was able to get a bracelet with number 147. The next morning I arrived at the opening of the ticket office to wait in line to buy tickets, and I managed to buy two for fairly good seats.”
Official ticket prices for pre-New Year’s screenings of The Nutcracker range from 1.5 thousand rubles. up to 20 thousand rubles. But for resellers they are much higher. Ads have already appeared on Avito offering pre-order services. Prices for seats in the stalls with a good view start from 80 thousand rubles. This was reported by one of the sellers, to whom the Kommersant FM editor introduced herself as a buyer:
— How many tickets do you need, what dates?
— December 31, preferably on the ground floor, if available.
— Tickets are made to order and prepaid, not personalized. The conditions are as follows: cost – from 60 thousand rubles, no balconies. We need your passport information – this is the series, number and last name, first name, patronymic of the person who is coming. You will need to make an advance payment of around 40%. Seats: either a first-tier box or a stall, not very good rows and not very good seats. A good place in the stalls will cost 80 thousand rubles.
— How can I contact you to transfer data?
– Write to me. Photos, nothing needed.
– But is this what you buy?
— I don’t stand in lines. I make tickets to order.
The Bolshoi Theater website clarifies that in the first days of pre-sale, tickets for the Nutcracker ballet can only be purchased at the box office. They can be purchased by those who are going to attend the production in person, and additionally, you can buy a ticket for minors or one close relative over 18 years of age exclusively using a passport. After this, ticket sales will open on the website. The first performance of the play will take place on December 23.
