Since November 14, SPB Exchange has stopped all operations with Meta Platforms shares (it has been recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). The decision was announced a month ago. The Moscow Exchange took similar measures on October 12.
The decision regarding Meta Platforms was made in accordance with the law on countering extremist activities. Although the company was declared banned in the Russian Federation in March, Rosfinmonitoring introduced her to the register of terrorists and extremists only on 11 October. This was followed by decisions of the Moscow Exchange and the St. Petersburg Exchange.
Central Bank admitsthat investors who buy Meta shares could face criminal penalties. However, for this it is necessary to determine the legal status of the holders of securities, said the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Vladimir Chistyukhin.
