The Soyuzmultfilm film studio intends to film the work “Secrets of the Enchantress” by the children’s writer from St. Petersburg Yulia Ivanova as a Russian counterpart to the Harry Potter films based on the J.K. Rowling book series. As TASS was specified in the press service, the film studio has already acquired the rights to the first book in the cycle.
“This is actually our answer to Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, a fascinating and beautiful world with the young sorceresses Elda and Shani, who resist the split within the kingdom, consisting of powerful Charonite magical orders. There will also be a large number of original characters and storylines,” Soyuzmultfilm representatives said.
In addition, the film studio plans to release a full-length animated film based on the book “Malusha” by Russian writer Oleg Roy, which tells about the Varangian Erik, who wants to prove to his father and brothers that he is worthy of bearing the title of Viking. At the moment, the film studio is at the stage of writing the script.
December 27 Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova reportedthat in order to maintain the cinema market in the country, it is necessary to release about 300 films annually, 60 of which must be major releases. According to the Ministry of Culture, by October the share of Russian films in the box office amounted to 54.3%.
