Sovremennik canceled performances based on Ulitskaya’s play – Kommersant

The Sovremennik Theater has canceled performances based on the play by writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya. The performances were scheduled for February 18 and March 23, the theater press service said. “RIA News”.

At the end of January, pranksters Vovan and Lexus (Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov), on behalf of the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Ermak, called Lyudmila Ulitskaya. Writer in conversation saidthat she transfers royalties from book sales to help Ukraine. After this, AST publishing house frozen payment of fees to Ms. Ulitskaya “until the situation is clarified.”

In December, pranksters called Boris Akunin (recognized as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists), in a conversation with whom the writer spoke out in support of Ukraine. After this AST suspended the sale of his books, and the Investigative Committee of Russia excited a criminal case against the writer on charges of publicly justifying terrorism and disseminating deliberately false information about the Russian army (Article 205.2, Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
