People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Liya Akhedzhakova resigned from the Moscow theater “Sovremennik”, reported “RIA News”, “Interfax” And TASS in the theatre. She resigned of her own free will, noted in the theater. Interfax reports that Mrs. Akhedzhakova resigned on April 5, TASS reports that she has not been a theater artist since that date.
“Liya Akhedzhakova resigned from the theater of her own free will, in connection with this, labor relations with her cannot be continued,” Sovremennik explained. Since April 5, she has not been a theater actress, theater director Yuri Kravets said.
February 8, 2023 theater announced about the replacement of the play “The Gin Game”, in which the actress is busy. The reason for the cancellation of the performance was not reported.
March 30 Mrs. Akhedzhakova told Novaya Gazeta that she wrote a letter of resignation from Sovremennik of her own free will on March 10. Then the theater management said that Liya Akhedzhakova was in the troupe and received a salary “according to the staffing table.”
At the time of publication of the material on the Sovremennik website on page, telling about Mrs. Akhedzhakova, there is no information that she left the theater. It says that the artist has been serving in the theater troupe since 1977, and also lists her three roles in the current repertoire: Nuria (“First Bread”), Fonsia Dorsi (“Gin Game”) and Zina Abramova (“The Steep Route”).
On February 27, 2022, the Sovremennik website published refutation information that Liya Akhedzhakova is going to leave Russia, as well as her donation of funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
