Over the past year, social networks removed more than 124.4 thousand materials at the request of Roskomnadzor. This is pro-drug, suicidal, extremist, terrorist content, as well as child pornography. Roskomnadzor reported this to the RIA Novosti agency.

“In 2023, as part of the implementation of the provisions of Law No. 149-FZ, at the request of Roskomnadzor, social network administrations removed more than 124.4 thousand especially dangerous materials, of which: Pro-drug content – 77.9 thousand. Suicidal content – 8.8 thousand. Children’s pornography – 8.9 thousand. Content of an extremist and terrorist nature – 28.8 thousand,” Roskomnadzor reported.

The social network VKontakte, upon request, deleted 1.9 thousand materials of an extremist nature for the entire 2023, and 1.1 thousand in 2024. Roskomnadzor also interacts with Odnoklassniki, Rutube and MoiMir to remove illegal information.

After the terrorist attack at Crocus, at the request of Roskomnadzor was blocked 11 Telegram channels that intimidated Russians with new terrorist attacks. RIA Novosti, citing a source, wrote that the four alleged perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall could have been recruited through the Telegram channel of the Afghan wing of the Islamic State (a terrorist group banned in Russia) “Voice of Khorasan.”
