The Moskvich plant will start assembling cars next week. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin informed in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Already next week, he will start the first assembly. And next year, I hope, it will already reach the parameters of the volume of work comparable to the period when Renault was there, ”Sobyanin said.
According to the head of Moscow, after the departure of foreign companies from the Russian market, the vacated niches were occupied by Russian entrepreneurs. He noted that problems arose only with the automotive industry. However, along with the launch of the first assembly at the Moskvich plant next week, Sobyanin also expects the Russian electric vehicle platform to be launched in 2-3 years.
At the end of October, the mayor of Moscow announced the start date for the Moskvich enterprise. Then he spokethat the launch is scheduled for December. Sobyanin also expressed a desire to make Moscow the center of the electric vehicle industry. According to him, there are all competencies for this.
April 26 at the Ministry of Industry and Trade reportedthat Renault decided to transfer a stake in its Renault Russia plant (formerly Avtoframos) to the Moscow government. In the spring, Sobyanin announced that the plant would produce cars under the Moskvich brand, and in the future, electric cars.

July 20 became knownthat the development of the Kama startup, owned by Kamaz CEO Sergey Kogogin and businessman Ruben Vardanyan, is being considered as a platform for Moskvich electric vehicles.
In August, the Moscow government and Kamaz signed cooperation agreement, which provides for an investment in the Moscow automobile plant “Moskvich” 5 billion rubles. Funding will be provided within two months from the date of the agreement.
