The Slovak government is ready for a dialogue on the resumption of cooperation with Russia in the field of culture, said Mikhail Shvydkoy, special representative of the Russian President for international cultural cooperation.

“It seems to me that today the Slovak authorities are ready to start a dialogue on how cultural cooperation can be resumed, if not at the state level, then at least at the level of cultural institutions,” he said (quoted by TASS).

Mr. Shvydkoy added that more information about the details of a possible resumption of cooperation can be obtained after discussing this issue in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament. Soon the special representative of the Russian president will go on a visit to Slovakia.

The Ministry of Culture of Slovakia in March 2022, in response to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, stopped scientific, cultural and other cooperation with Russia and Belarus. On January 20 this year, the new Minister of Culture of Slovakia, Martina Simkovicova, lifted this ban.
