As shown survey VTsIOM, the share of Russians who have loans in the family is 46%. It turned out to be almost twice as high as during the first measurement in 2009 (26%), but lower than the peak values of 2017 (58%).
According to the study, the credit activity of Russians grew rapidly from 2009 to 2017. In 2020, the willingness to take loans decreased against the backdrop of general socio-economic stagnation during the pandemic. The last year also showed a decline in activity. 51% of respondents stated that they had no loans. The proportion of those who have three or more of them has decreased to 7% against 13% in 2021 and 12% in 2022.
