Skyeng school co-founder Denis Smetnev left the company

One of its founders Denis Smetnev left the Skyeng group of companies, informed Forbes, citing a company statement.
Smetnev served as the commercial director of the school. Now Smetnev will be busy developing the marketing agency uForce, launched as a division of Skyeng. In 2021, the project was withdrawn from the company. Smetnev will remain a shareholder of the company at the same time.
Skyeng was launched in 2012 by Smetnev, Georgy Solovyov, Khariton Matveev and Andrey Yaunzem. The company now includes Skyeng, Skysmart and Skypro online schools. At the beginning of May, the Smart Ranking agency reportedthat the group became the leader in the edtech market (educational technology market) in the first quarter of 2023.
Last summer, The Bell (recognized as a foreign media agent in the Russian Federation), citing sources toldthat VK claims to buy Skyeng. One of the interlocutors of the publication then noted that it is likely that Skyeng, in the event of a deal, will develop independently, unlike other services acquired by the social network that were built into the company’s business processes. In addition, other companies also applied for the acquisition of Skyeng, in particular, Aleksey Mordashov’s Severgroup, which, through the TalentTech IT holding, owns 85% in the Netology Group edtech company.
The uForce agency appeared in 2020. Smetnev invested about $100,000 in the then Skyeng division. The agency’s revenue for the past year amounted to 23 million rubles.
