Sites in the .ru zone are malfunctioning due to incorrect configuration – Kommersant

The DNS (domain name server) infrastructure responsible for the operation of .ru domains is not configured correctly – there are problems with DNSSEC, as follows from data from the network infrastructure monitoring service DNSVis. As a result, some Internet users experience difficulties accessing sites hosted on .ru domains.
The coordination center told Kommersant that the problem is related to the global DNSSEC infrastructure: “Specialists from the Internet Technical Center and MSK-IX are working to resolve it.” They stated that for subscribers of the National Domain Name System (NDNS; a domain name system created under the law on the “sovereign RuNet”) the problem has been resolved.
DNS is a protocol that allows you to match website domains with the IP addresses of the servers that host the sites. DNSSEC is a protocol extension designed to protect against cyber attacks by verifying requests. A Kommersant source in the telecommunications industry reported that problems occurred at the stage of checking information received by providers from DNS servers of the .ru top-level domain (managed by the .RU/.РФ coordination center).
Incorrect DNSSEC configuration has previously resulted in unavailability of sites hosted on the same top-level domain. On September 21, 2023, due to a similar issue, sites in the .au (Australia) zone were unavailable for several hours.
