Singer Toto Cutugno buried in Italy

The funeral ceremony for the world-famous Italian singer Toto Cutugno was held on Thursday morning in the Milan Basilica. Hundreds of people gathered to pay their last farewell bow to their favorite artist, according to the portal Leggo.
Fans held the coffin with the body of the singer with long applause. At the entrance to the church, musicians with accordion and guitar performed Toto Cutugno’s most famous song “l’Italiano”, which was taken up by the common people.
The Basilica of Santi Nereo ed Achilleio could not accommodate all those who came to honor the memory of the artist, the portal reports. Among those gathered were well-known representatives of the Italian stage Pupo and Gianni Morandi, who supported Cutugno’s relatives and sat down behind them in the second row.
The priest of the basilica in his speech spoke about the deep faith of Toto Cutugno and said that the singer was convinced that life does not end with death. He left a wonderful legacy in the world with his compositions, the priest said.
In one of Cutugno’s most famous songs, there is a line: “Let me sing with a guitar in my hands”, which was paraphrased by don Gianluigi Panzeri: “On entering the house of the Lord, perhaps Toto will say to the choir of angels: “Let me sing with a guitar in my hands.”
Toto Cutugno died on Tuesday in Milan at the age of 81. According to his manager, the singer passed away in a San Raffaele hospital after a long illness that worsened in recent months.
