In the first 11 weeks of 2024, 3.6 million packages of antidepressants were sold in Russian pharmacies for a total amount of 2.9 billion rubles, the newspaper writes. “Vedomosti” with reference to calculations by the analytical company DSM Group. According to analysts, this is a record figure over the past five years.

Compared to the same period in 2023, sales increased by 45% in monetary terms and by 33% in physical terms. Last year, in the first 11 weeks, 2.7 million packages of antidepressants were sold for 2 billion rubles.

In the “Pharmacy chain 36.6” (brands “36.6” and “Gorzdrav”) Vedomosti was informed that during the specified period, sales of antidepressants increased by 41% compared to the same period in 2023, in the “Pharmacy 25” network – more than 15%.

As Kommersant FM reported, in 2023, Russians began to spend more on medicines: revenue from retail sales of drugs increased by almost 8%. In total, pharmacies earned almost 1.5 trillion rubles last year. In particular, demand was recorded for antidepressants, drugs to improve sleep, and contraceptives.
