Siemens opposed breaking the contract with Rosatom – Kommersant

The head of the supervisory board of Siemens Energy, Joe Kraser, said in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that breaking the contract with Rosatom would be very costly for his company. Siemens supplies equipment that ensures safety at two new power units of the Hungarian Paks-2 nuclear power plant, built by Rosatom.
“There are non-governmental organizations that demand that our leadership does not comply with existing contracts (with Rosatom.”— “Ъ”), and then the EU state (Hungary.— “Ъ”) can sue for an almost unlimited amount,” said Mr. Kraser (quoted by Bloomberg).
Siemens signed contracts for the supply of devices for the Paks 2 nuclear power plant in 2019. The company also supplies equipment to Rosatom for the construction of the Turkish Akkuyu nuclear power plant.
The United States and Europe have been discussing the possibility of introducing sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry for several months, but full-scale restrictions against Rosatom have not yet been introduced. Meanwhile, the US and Europe are gradually refuse from purchases of uranium raw materials from Russia.
