Shvydkoy believes that Trinity should be mothballed after her return from the XXC
After the return of the Trinity icon by Andrei Rublev from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, it should be conserved. Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, stated this on the sidelines of the SPIEF.
“The first thing is not to touch it for a year and start conservation, not restoration, but conservation,” Shvydkoy said.
Shvydkoy also noted that a high-tech case should be made for the icon as soon as possible, which will maintain the required temperature and humidity conditions.
In addition, he answered a question about the potential transfer of other museum values to the church, emphasizing that “it’s not about who owns it, the question is how to save great masterpieces for the future, so as not to lose them.”
