Representatives of Sheremetyevo raised in the Ministry of Transport the issue of introducing the fifth freedom of air for Chinese airlines when landing at Moscow airports (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo). Freedoms of the air – a set of rules governing the right of airlines to enter the airspace of other countries and land on their territory, prescribed in the Chicago Convention of 1944. The fifth freedom allows an airline to fly between two foreign countries if the flight begins or ends in its own country. For example, if a Chinese airline flies from Paris to Moscow and then flies to Guangzhou. Friendly Avia Support CEO Alexander Lanetsky noted that with the fifth freedom, the airline also has the right to sell tickets for sections between foreign countries.
