Volgograd airport representative Anastasia Golodova told RIA Novosti that the Ural Lines flight from Sharm el-Sheikh to Volgograd was redirected to an alternate airfield in Astrakhan due to airspace restrictions. Flights of Pobeda and Aeroflot airlines from Moscow to Volgograd were delayed. According to Ms. Golodova, the restrictions have now been lifted.

Restrictions in the airspace were introduced against the backdrop of UAV attacks on the Volgograd region. Today, March 8, in the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of 11 drones over the region. The military department later reported that four more UAVs were shot down. No casualties or damage were reported.

The last time the destruction of a UAV over the Volgograd region was reported was on February 3. Then, as a result of the fall of the drone, a fire occurred at the LUKOIL oil refinery. The fire area reached 300 square meters. m.
