Shadayev: there must be at least three Internet operators in residential buildings

The Ministry of Digital Development believes that residents of apartment buildings should have a choice of at least three Internet operators, said Maksut Shadayev, head of the department.
“We have 4,800 operators that provide home Internet services. The position of the Ministry of Digital Development is that residents should have the maximum choice. At least three operators must be available in each home; if there are 20, it’s good, the more operators, the lower the price,” – leads his words to RIA Novosti.
Now, according to the Ministry of Digital Development, in 60% of houses there are only two operators, and in 15% – in general, one.
Last November, State Duma deputies Alexander Khinshtein, Andrey Turchak, Andrey Klishas and Sergey Pakhomov (all United Russia) submitted to the lower house a bill on non-discriminatory access of telecom operators to apartment buildings.
The document proposes to allow Internet access to the entrance at the request of any tenant. Now the decision to connect the house to the network of the broadband access operator (BBA) must be taken by the votes of 2/3 of the apartment owners. The deputies also proposed to introduce a moratorium on increasing payments under existing infrastructure placement agreements until December 31, 2024.
Representatives of ER-Telecom Holding, Rostelecom and VimpelCom (works under the brand name “Beeline”) then declared that they supported the initiative.
