Russia has the necessary developments and technologies for base stations for mobile communications. Their production in Russia is planned to be established within three years. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev.
“Very serious upgrades were made during the covid years, when many went online, and today traffic is not growing as intensively as in previous years. Well, within three years we must, one way or another, solve the problem of our own production,” said Maksut Shadayev in an interview. “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
According to him, the majority of Russian R&D offices (research and development departments – “b”) international suppliers of telecommunications equipment were transferred to Russian owners with experience and best practices. Maksut Shadayev added that they have a number of developments and technologies for base stations to quickly launch their production.
After the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, Nokia and Ericsson announced that they would finally leave the Russian market and stop software updates by early 2023. To the Ministry of Digital Development claimthat their departure from Russia will not affect the quality of mobile communications in the country. Reuters citing sources informedthat industry participants expect a decline in communication quality.
