The MS-21 aircraft with Russian engines and wings will go into series production in 2025. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
“Starting from 2025, we will mass-produce this aircraft and supply it to consumers,” Mr. Manturov said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel (quoted by RIA Novosti).
MS-21 is a medium-haul passenger aircraft capable of accommodating from 150 to 211 passengers. The project has been running since 2007. Until 2030, it is planned to produce about 270 liners. The aircraft is being developed by the Irkut corporation (part of Rostec).
Yesterday, December 29, Rosaviatsia approved changes in the design of the MS-21 with the Russian PD-14 engine. The Irkut Corporation noted that in 2022 the aircraft completed over 160 successful test flights.
In November the government singled out 15 billion rubles to expand the production of MS-21. Additionally will be spent about 44 billion rubles. for the production of aircraft engines, including the creation of the 14 PD-14 engine, designed for the MS-21.
At the end of 2021, the vessel received a basic type certificate, and in December it made its first flight with a Russian composite wing. The head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, reported that in 2024 the United Aircraft Corporation plans to supply airlines with the first six fully imported MS-21s with an increase in production of up to 72 aircraft annually by 2029.
