You won’t envy Sergei Svetlakov, Alexey Shcherbakov, Artem Kalaijan and Marina Kravets. In the show “League of Cities” they select teams of folk comedians in search of the best jokers. The audience, most likely, is sometimes not laughing either.
From the outside, all this is somewhat reminiscent of the show “The Voice,” except that the auditions are in-person. And so – the same buttons, the same “sorry, you are not suitable for us”, the choice of a mentor for those who are suitable, and everything in a similar spirit. But there is one important detail. If in “The Voice” the audience and the jury are tested for strength with short performances, then here you have to listen to reprises for about ten minutes. And this is another challenge.
The teams that participate in the “League of Cities” generally please with their diversity (there are younger and older, more hooligan and more decent) – it’s a pity, the reasons for jokes are sometimes like carbon copies. All popular comedians are sure that foreign agents, sexual and national minorities, and sexism are very funny. But when jokes on such topics are made on stage, it is often difficult to even call them funny. What’s really funny is watching the reactions of the celebrity judges. They look at each other embarrassedly, don’t really understand how to react correctly to some nonsense, and in the latest episode they even interrupted completely hopeless performances a couple of times – there’s also such a button.
In this regard, most of the judges and presenter Timur Rodriguez – as people who were directly related to the popularization of what is now called modern humor – can be congratulated on the birth of their creative offspring. Look, good gentlemen, listen, be surprised. This is how the “kids” turned out, obviously having watched enough of your programs in their time. And those who passed the auditions, that is, the best, made it onto the airwaves. It’s scary to imagine how those left behind are joking.
STARVE FOR HEALTH
Programs that promote appetite are probably more popular than those that say that overeating is harmful. That’s why there aren’t many good horror stories about how your favorite food will drive you to your grave. Cooking is more difficult than frightening, but gluttons still need to be kept on their toes.
The “Substance Deception” program appeared in the “Podcast.Lab” line, and in the first episode, Dr. Zukhra Pavlova tried to present obesity in the darkest colors. It must be admitted that in half an hour a lot of facts fell upon the public, which desperately lacked tasty sauce. Still, the term “insulin resistance” has not so much a frightening effect as a hypnotic effect, and many such words have been uttered.
The specifics turned out to be much less. Sauteed onions and fried lamb in doctor’s optics were much inferior to steamed cutlets, but I wanted more eloquent verdicts. How soon will Olivier destroy us and will tofu give us eternal life? Still, the topic of food becomes more interesting if it is enriched with Shakespearean passions, rather than scientific calculations.
However, the program experts cannot resist irony. According to them, obesity, among other things, is caused by a sedentary lifestyle and non-compliance with the daily routine. This, of course, had to be told to everyone who is lounging on the couch watching TV around midnight.
Meanwhile, on another channel, an effective counterbalance to intelligent conversations appeared. In the show “Guest on the Doorstep,” desperate housewives, who describe themselves as “multifaceted, like a diamond” (sounds funny, especially considering that a diamond, like a raw material, has few facets), prepare dishes that resemble a pompous European-style renovation. This is where the soul really walks. All the best is on the table, we only live once.
