The former leader of the group “Semantic Hallucinations” recently released a song dedicated to the participants of the SVO. Most of the musical material that is called patriotic is currently composed and performed mainly in the format of amateur performances. Famous musicians reflect on hot agendas far from en masse, and Sergei Bobunets sets an example in this regard.
The song “We Will Return” has two sources of inspiration, namely the poems “Wait for me and I will return” and “Night Talk”. Konstantin Simonov wrote lines that became famous in 1941. Sergei Bobunets found a poem dedicated to the life of Russian soldiers on the Internet in 2023. These compositions are separated by eighty years, but they surprisingly coincided in one song.
The everyday life of soldiers taking part in hostilities in Ukraine is not just headline news for Bobunets. The musician maintains friendly relations with those who serve in the 297th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade and with his song he decided to convey greetings to family and friends who are waiting for soldiers and officers at home. “With this track I wanted to support all those who are fighting for our bright future today. We believe in the safe return home of everyone who had to take up arms in the name of relatives, friends and future generations!” – says the musician.
Sergei Bobunets is best known for his group “Meaning Hallucinations”. The band members have been actively recording and performing throughout the country for twenty-five years, but in 2017 Bobunets began a solo career and has currently released two full-length albums. The rock ‘n’ roll sound of “Semantic Hallucinations” has changed to a more electronic one, but the group’s main hits – “Forever Young”, “Why Trample My Love”, “Reason Will Someday Win” – are still heard at concerts.
“We will be back” Bobunets recorded a duet with Alexey Poddubny, better known as Django. Colleagues almost never take part in musical collaborations, but this song became a special occasion and a reason to join forces.
