Senator Alexei Pushkov commented on media reports that the EU has proposed to make adjustments in the gas market, as it cannot set a price limit for gas from Russia. According to him, the EU is faced with a number of “impossibility”.
“I think these two — the impossibility of setting a ceiling on gas prices and the impossibility of allocating 3 billion euros to Ukraine — are not the last ‘impossibility’,” Mr. Pushkov wrote in his Telegram.
According to Reuters, The European Commission (EC) on November 8 announced that it could not set a price ceiling for Russian gas, which was previously requested by EU leaders. According to the EC, the price cap will not affect long-term contracts or security of supply. November 8 at the European Commission also reportedthat they will not be able to allocate to Ukraine a third of the €9 billion promised by the EC in May.
