Screenwriters Guild meeting with Hollywood film studios turned out to be inconclusive

Representatives of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Motion Picture and Television Producers Alliance (AMPTP) met last Friday, August 4, but the meeting did not lead to the resumption of a full-fledged negotiation process.

Writers Guild announced about the beginning of an indefinite strike on May 2. The union has been negotiating with representatives of the studios for several months to extend the existing agreement, but the parties have not been able to agree. The main demands of the scriptwriters were an increase in payouts and a ban on replacing people with neural networks like ChatGPT.
After the meeting, information began to appear in the media that the WGA was ready to make a deal with film studios on certain points. But the guild denied this information, saying that a new agreement can only be concluded when all the requirements of the scriptwriters are met.
