Nikolai Romanetsky was born on June 26, 1953 in the Novgorod region. In 1977 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute with a degree in metallurgical engineer. For 12 years he worked at the Baltic Plant, starting as a process engineer and ending as deputy shop manager. Since the 1980s he has worked as a writer, editor and translator. The writer’s first publication appeared in the magazine “Energy” in 1987, where they published an abridged version of the story “The Third Name.” The debut book was “Let’s Kill the Dodola in Ourselves,” which was published in 1996, and in 2005 received the “Big Zilant” award. He also published under the pseudonyms: Sin Staneymore, Vs. Ezamnoy, Ts.-E. Namorkin, Nikolai Romanov.
Among Romanetsky’s works are the cycles “Dead Magicians Have Long Arms” and “Expansion”. He worked in the genre of short stories, novels, novels. Among the famous books are “Castle of Terror”, “Horse in Raspberries”, “SWALKER Artifact Thieves”, “The World in Armor”, “Draft in Unclosed Doors”. He translated works by foreign science fiction writers – Robert Heinlein (“The Heaviness of Heaven”), Philip K. Dick (“Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”), Randal Garrett (“Too Many Wizards”), Edgar Pangborn (“Mirror for Watchers”). Laureate of the Arkady and Boris Strugatsky Prize in 2010, executive secretary of this award, executive secretary of the literary fiction magazine “Noon XXI Century”.
