scammers pose as employees of telecom operators – Kommersant

Beeline has identified a telephone fraud scheme in which criminals call under the guise of representatives of mobile operators. In this way, they want to gain access to subscriber numbers in order to be able to log into personal accounts of banks, State Services and other services, the operator told TASS.
As part of the new scheme, the attackers claim that the phone number they are calling has submitted an application to change the operator. Supposedly, to ensure security, they offer to change the password in your personal account. To do this, they ask for the SMS code received to reset the password.
Beeline noted that representatives of telecommunications companies always call only from a special short number and never ask for codes. They also do not ask you to forward any data to other numbers.
According to Kommersant, telecom operators have begun to en masse appeal against Roskomnadzor fines for missing fraudulent calls, which can reach 1 million rubles. The regulator’s claims affect even large market participants who have already joined the Roskomnadzor Antifraud system.
