Sberbank warns of fraud accusing treason

Sberbank has recorded a new fraudulent scheme, when bank customers are presented as FSB officers and asked to transfer money in order to avoid liability for transfers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the article on treason. This was reported in the press service of the bank.

Fraudsters introduce themselves to a bank client as a police officer or FSB officer and say that his data was stolen by a bank employee who transfers his money in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Threatening the client with criminal liability under the article on treason, the scammers ask him to transfer money to their accounts or take out a loan in order to figure out the employee who stole his data. We note that according to Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for this threatens up to 20 years in prison.

The press service of Sberbank advised to turn on notifications about banking transactions and follow their history, and also reminded that the bank would never demand to dictate the card number or code on its back.
