Sberbank has applied for a trademark with its logo in Russian and Chinese characters for the word “bank”. Sberbank told TASS that they want to register a trademark “with the potential for interaction with the Chinese audience in the region bordering China.”
According to the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, the application was sent on 30 August. The Chinese characters on it are in the lower right corner under the Sberbank logo.
The first deputy chairman of the board of the bank, Alexander Vedyakhin, said in July that the process of opening a branch of Sberbank in China is going according to plan, but the procedure itself, in accordance with the laws of this country, is not fast. At the end of April, Sberbank launched transfers by account number in yuan within Russia. By data Financial Times, China’s share in the Russian banking sector has quadrupled since the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
About the popularity of the yuan – in the material “Kommersant” “Investors remembered the dollar”.
