Sales of rapid tests for coronavirus increased by about 2.6 times in a month

In July, Russians purchased 2.6 times more rapid tests for determining the antigen for coronavirus than a month earlier, a representative of the Chek Index resource told Vedomosti. He analyzes the statistics of the largest fiscal data operator OFD Platform, which serves about a third of all online cash registers in the country, including in traditional and online pharmacies. He does not disclose absolute figures. In July, on the largest marketplaces – Wildberries, Ozon, KazanExpress, Yandex. Market and Sbermegamarket – 8,228 express tests were implemented, which is 2.3 times more than in June, specifies a representative of the Moneyplace service, which monitors sales from online retailers. A representative of Wildberries confirmed a 2.5-fold increase in sales of such products over the past month, but also refused to disclose absolute figures (according to Moneyplace, we are talking about 2776 tests). Other online platforms did not provide their statistics.

Over the past six months, rapid tests have been sold on marketplaces quite steadily, but demand began to grow on July 4, a Moneyplace representative said. This is in line with official statistics from the federal coronavirus operational headquarters, according to which an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 was recorded for six consecutive weeks starting from June 28. But, according to the calculations of the Index Check, Russians began to actively purchase express tests only in the second half of July. According to him, the average check in annual terms for these products decreased by 56% and remained virtually unchanged by June 2022, amounting to 970 rubles.
