Sabato de Sarno named Creative Director of Gucci

Sabato de Sarno has taken over as Gucci’s new creative director, Reuters reports citing a press release from the fashion house. In the new position, Mr. de Sarno will have to “restore the state of the brand.” He started his career at Prada in 2005, followed by a stint at Dolce & Gabbana. Since 2009, he moved to Valentino, where he worked his way up to Fashion Director, overseeing men’s and women’s collections.
His predecessor Alessandro Michele left the post creative director of Gucci in November 2022, having served in the position since 2015. He attributed his departure to “different points of view” on the brand. What the differences were, he did not specify. Mr. Michele presented the latest collections in this position for the autumn/winter 2023 season.
