RuStore now has the ability to make in-app purchases and monetize applications

Developers of online applications that are hosted in the Russian marketplace RuStore (an analogue of Google Play, available only for Android devices) will now be able to monetize their applications using in-app purchases, reported in the press service of the VK company, which developed the store.
It is clarified that users now have the opportunity to subscribe and make one-time purchases. They will be able to pay for purchases using a bank card, which must first be linked to their personal account in the application. The new functionality was implemented using Sber technologies.
“Many developers have lost the opportunity to monetize their applications on other platforms in Russia, but now they will be able to do it on RuStore. This is a logical step in the development of our service, which was expected not only by developers, but also by users. Now they can easily and safely pay for services and virtual goods in their favorite apps: upgrade game characters, buy e-books, subscribe to movies, and much more,” said Ivan Myzdrikov, head of the RuStore project.
It is noted that in order to start receiving payments from users, application developers need to activate the monetization function. The commission will be 15%. In addition, if the developer decides to monetize his application by issuing a paid subscription, then on his page he can indicate the duration of the subscription or payment limits.
The first version of RuStore was released in May. At the same time, VK CEO Vladimir Kiriyenko said that the commission for developers “will definitely be less than 15%.” By that time, Google had already disabled the payment infrastructure of its app store in Russia, as well as the ability to update already purchased paid apps. Initially, applications on the Russian marketplace could be downloaded without registration, but later, in order to leave a review in RuStore, it became necessary to register using the phone number associated with the VK ID account.
