The current account surplus in the balance of payments in January-June 2023 amounted to $20.2 billion. The current account balance in June became negative – minus $1.4 billion, follows from data Central Bank. The negative balance was last recorded in August 2020, when the current account deficit was also at $1.4 billion.
According to the Central Bank, the current account balance in the second quarter of 2023 amounted to $5.4 billion, in the previous quarter it was $14.8 billion. This figure was lower in the third quarter of 2020 – $3.8 billion.
In January-June 2022, the surplus amounted to $147.6 billion, in the first quarter the current account balance was $70.9 billion, in the second – $76.7 billion. The Central Bank predicts that the current account surplus in 2023 will be $47 billion 2024 – $38 billion, in 2025 – $35 billion.
