Russian transport drone TRAMP passed the first stage of flight tests

The Russian long-range transport drone TRAMP (transport aviation multifunctional platform) has completed the first stage of flight testing. During it, the key tactical and technical characteristics laid down during the design were confirmed, but “there were some incidents,” one of the developers told RIA Novosti.
According to him, in the future it is planned to study the operation of the systems in different modes. “Unfortunately, there were some incidents. One of the two devices during the landing stage left the runway due to an automatic failure and crashed. He is currently recovering. This is the first stage of flight testing, it is difficult to avoid emergency situations,” the agency’s interlocutor is convinced.
He clarified that company specialists are investigating the cause of the emergency. After adjustments are made to the project, the company intends to move on to flights with a payload.
The TRAMP transport drone is capable of transporting up to 250 kg of cargo over a distance of more than 600 km. Its special feature is a cargo compartment with a volume of 2650 liters, thanks to which it is possible to drop large cargo by parachute to a selected point. The cruising speed of the UAV is 195 km/h, the cruising ceiling is 3 thousand m. For civilian purposes, it can be used for transporting goods and monitoring forest lands, in agriculture – for chemical treatment of the territory.
In February, the developers of Trump started to testing the drone on the ground. The drone was expected to make its first flight in April.
